The Department of Taxation has announced that the deadline for submitting the VAT Declaration and making the corresponding tax payment for the period ending on 31/08/2023 has been extended until 16/10/2023. This extension has been granted due to an interruption in the functioning of the VAT Department’s information system, which will occurred from 6/10/2023 (15:30) until 8/10/2023. This temporary system downtime was necessary for essential upgrades. The VAT Department’s website is expected to be back in operation on 9/10/2023.
Any VAT Declaration and tax payments made after 16/10/2023 will be considered overdue. Late submissions will incur a €100 fine for the delayed VAT Declaration, an additional tax of 10% on the VAT amount due, and accrued interest until the full payment is made.
