Earlier this month, the Commissioner of Taxation announced an initiative aimed at expediting the processing of personal income tax declarations from 2017 onwards, with the goal of completing all income tax returns submitted up to 2022.
In light of a delay in mailing the relevant notices (Form TD. 8), the Commissioner of Taxation has made the following decisions:
- The deadline for submitting objections is extended until December 31, 2023, for tax assessments issued in 2023, with objection filing dates up to December 31, 2023.
- No additional 5% tax will be imposed on tax assessments issued in 2023, provided that the tax is due for payment and the payment date is on or before November 30, 2023, and the outstanding tax is settled before December 31, 2023.
It is reminded that payments are made only through the Tax Portal.
Taxpayers should also ensure the accuracy of their details in the Tax Department’s Registry, including contact addresses, phone numbers, business activities, and IBAN. Any updates should be submitted using Form TD. 2003 (Change of Taxpayer’s Data) and Form TD 2008 (Authorization for Remittance to a Bank Account) at the local District Tax Department Offices.
